Holy Doctrine of the Holy Cross Church of Christ
I. THE ONE TRUE GOD
We believe in the one ever-living, eternal God: infinite in power, Holy in nature, attributes and purpose; and possessing absolute, indivisible deity. This one true God has revealed Himself as Father, through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit, by emanation. (1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; 2 Cor. 5:19; Joel 2:28).
The Scripture does more than attempt to prove the existence of God; it asserts, assumes and declares that the knowledge of God is universal. (Romans 1:19, 21, 28, 32; 2:15). God is invisible, incorporeal, without parts, without body, and therefore free from all limitations. He is Spirit (John 4:24), and a spirit hath not flesh and bones. (Luke 24:39).
The first of all the commandments is, hear, 0 Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord" (Mark 12:29; Deut. 6:4). "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Eph. 4:6).
This one true God manifested Himself in the Old Testament in divers ways; in the Son while He walked among men; as the Holy Spirit after the ascension.
II. THE SON OF GOD
The one true God, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, took upon Himself the form of man, and as the Son of man, was born of the virgin Mary. As Paul says "and without controversy great is the mystery of Godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory" (1 Timothy 3:16).
"He came unto His own, and His own received Him not" (John 1:11). This one true God was manifest in the flesh, that is, in His Son Jesus Christ. ". . God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. . ." (2 Cor. 5:19).
We believe that, ". . in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily" (Col. 2:9). "For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell" (Col. 1:19). Therefore, Jesus in His humanity was man; in His deity was and is God. His flesh was the lamb, or the sacrifice of God. He is the only mediator between God and man. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).
Jesus on His Father's side was divine, on His mother's side, human; Thus, He was known as the Son of God and also the son of man, or the God-man.
"For He hath put all things under His feet. But when He saith all things are put under Him, it is manifest that He is excepted, which did put all things under Him" (1 Cor. 15:27). "And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all" (1 Cor. 15:28).
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty" (Rev. 1:8).
III. THE NAME
God used different titles, such as "God Elohim", "El Shaddai", "Jehovah", and especially "Jehovah Lord", the redemptive name in the Old Testament.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: ... and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). This prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled when the Son of God was named, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His People from their sins" (Matt. 1:21).
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
IV. CREATION OF MAN AND HIS FALL
In the beginning God created man innocent, pure and holy; but through the sin of disobedience, Adam and Eve, the first of the human race, fell from their holy state, and God banished them from Eden. Hence by one man's disobedience, sin entered into the world. (Gen. 1:27; Rom. 3:23, 5:12).
V. REPENTANCE AND CONVERSION
Pardon and forgiveness of sins is obtained by genuine repentance, a confessing and forsaking of sins. We are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). John the Baptist preached repentance, Jesus proclaimed it, and the Apostles emphasized it to both Jews and Gentiles. (Acts 2:38, 11:18, 17:30).
The word "repentance" comes from several Greek words which mean, change of views and purpose, change of heart, change of mind, change of life, to transform, etc.
Jesus said, -except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3).
Luke 24:47 says, "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
VI. WATER BAPTISM
The scriptural mode of baptism is immersion, and is only for those who have fully repented, having turned from their sins and a love of the world. It should be administered by a duly authorized minister of the Gospel, in obedience to the Word of God, and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to the Acts of the Apostles 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5; thus obeying and fulfilling Matthew 28:19.
VII. THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
John the Baptist, in Matthew 3:11, said, "...He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire."
Jesus, in Acts 1:5, said, "...ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."
Luke tells us in Acts 2:4, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues (languages), as the Spirit gave them utterance."
The terms "baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire," "filled with the Holy Spirit," and the "gift of the Holy Ghost" are synonymous terms used interchangeably in the Bible.
It is scriptural to expect all who receive the gift, filling, or baptism of the Holy Spirit to receive the same physical, initial sign of speaking with other tongues.
The speaking with other tongues, as recorded in Acts 2:4, 10:46, and 19:6, and the gift of tongues, as explained in 1 Corinthians, chapters 12 and 14, are the same in essence, but different in use and purpose.
The Lord, through the Prophet Joel, said, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; ..." (Joel 2:28).
Peter, in explaining this phenomenal experience, said, having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He (Jesus) hath shed forth this which ye now see and hear." (Acts 2:33).
Further, "...The promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:39).
VIII. FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINE
The basic and fundamental doctrine of this Church shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
IX. DIVINE HEALING
The first covenant that the Lord (Jehovah) made with the children of Israel after they were brought out of Egypt was a covenant of healing. The Lord said, ". . if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord (Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord that healeth) thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee." (Exodus 15:26).
Some translations read: "For I am Jehovah, thy physician," He being our physician or doctor, we have the most capable in the whole world. Our Lord Jesus Christ went about Galilee, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people. (Matthew 4:23, 24).
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).
The vicarious suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ paid for the healing of our bodies, the same as for the salvation of our souls, for with His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Matthew 8:17 reads, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (See also I Peter 2:24).
We see from this that divine healing for the body is in the atonement. That being true, then it is for all who believe. Jesus said of believers, ". . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Later, James wrote in his Epistle to all the churches: "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:14-16).
All of these promises are for the church today.
X. SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION (SINGLE CUP)
On the night of our Lord's betrayal, He ate the Passover supper with His Apostles, after which He instituted the sacrament. "And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:19-20).
Apostle Paul instructed the church how to observe it (I Cor. 11:23-34).
Thus was instituted the use of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, from a single cup, which are partaken of literally, as emblems of His broken body and shed blood. There is also a spiritual significance and blessing in partaking of the sacrament. (See also Matthew 26:26-27, Mark 14:22-23)
XI. FOOT WASHING
When the Passover supper was ended, we read in John 13:4-5, "He riseth from supper, and laid aside His garments; and took a towel, and girded Himself. After that He poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith He was girded."
Jesus said, "If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you" (John 13:14-15).
This first example was given by our Lord, and it is a divine institution. It is well to follow His example and wash one another's feet; thus manifesting the spirit of humility.
XII. HOLINESS
After we are saved from sin, we are commanded, "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11).
We are commanded to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world (Titus 2:12) and warned that without holiness no one shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
We must present ourselves as holy unto God (Romans 12:1), cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit (II Corinthians 7:1), and separate ourselves from all worldliness (James 4:4).
If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (I Peter 4:18). What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.( 1Cor 6:19 )
No one can live a holy life by his own power, but only through the Holy Spirit. "Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you" (Acts 1:8).
Holiness involves both the inner man and the outer man (I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Thessalonians 5:23). We must perfect holiness by cleansing ourselves of filthiness both of the flesh and of the spirit (II Corinthians 7:1). For example, lustful thoughts are as sinful as an act of adultery (Matthew 5:27-28), and hatred is just as sinful as murder (I John 3:15). Holiness, then, includes attitudes, thoughts, and spiritual stewardship on the one hand and actions, appearance, and physical stewardship on the other. One without the other is insufficient. Inward holiness will produce outward holiness, but the outward appearance of holiness is worthless without inward holiness. For example, a modest spirit will produce modest dress, but modest dress is of little value if it conceals a lustful heart.
Holiness or sanctification is not a means of earning salvation but a result of salvation. As such, it comes by grace through faith. Holiness cannot be manufactured bywords of the flesh but must come as we submit to the leadership and control of the Holy Spirit. We are holy in a twofold sense. On the one hand, we receive an immediate sanctification (separation from sin) through the death of Christ when we are baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 6:11; Hebrews10:10). God counts us holy by imputing Christ’s righteousness to us. On the other hand, we must follow after and seek holiness (Hebrews 12:14). We must strive after holiness and receive the progressive work of sanctification. We are already sanctified, but we are also called to be saints (sanctified, holy ones) (I Corinthians 1:2).
Many times what we wear helps to mold their expectations as well as our own. When a woman wears an immodest dress, she begins to think of herself as seductive and acts accordingly. Other people perceive her as provocative and treat her as such, which reinforces her behavior. In short, appearance both reflects and to large degree determines what we are in the eyes of self and others.
We must ask what practices of the time concerned God enough for Him to inspire this passage. What clothing did Paul have in mind when he warned against immodesty of dress? In a day when women wore robes to the ankle, what type of immodest dress existed? If Paul found immodest clothing in an age characterized by greater modesty of dress than our own, certainly he would consider many styles of clothing today to be immodest. As Chapter 8 will note, many women of the time tucked in their tunics above the knee for convenience in certain activities, and the early church fathers considered this immodest. God was concerned about modesty of dress in a day when even exposing the upper leg was considered immodest. In Isaiah47:2-3 God considered baring the leg and uncovering the thigh to be shameful exposure of nakedness. This gives us a good idea as to what God would regard as the minimum standard of modesty, regardless of culture.
The basic reason for modesty of dress is to subdue the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. The exposed body tends to arouse improper thoughts in both wearer and onlooker. To implement the purpose behind modest dress, the body should basically be covered, except for those parts which we must use openly for normal living. This suggests that clothes should cover the torso and upper limbs. Reasonable guidelines, then, would-be women’s dresses over the knee and sleeves to the elbow. In addition, we should avoid low necklines, sleeveless dresses or shirts, very tight clothes, very thin clothes, and slacks on women because they immodestly reveal the feminine contours of upper leg, thigh, and hip. Likewise, swimming in mixed company is immodest. Since the primary effect of makeup is to highlight sex appeal, we reject makeup as immodest.
To some degree modesty is culturally relative. We must certainly dress in a manner that would be considered modest for the occasion and in the judgment of our culture. For example, 19th century society considered it improper for a woman to expose any of her leg in public. Applying principles of Christian liberty, a Christian woman of that day should not have worn a knee-length dress, for this would have brought reproach upon her and the Lord. However, there must be a minimum of modesty that is absolute. Otherwise, if society condoned total nudity, Christians could walk around nude. If so, we could delete I Timothy 2:9 from the Bible as irrelevant.
Finally, the heart must be modest and motives pure. Conduct, gestures, gait, body language, and speech must be modest. If a woman wants to, she can display her body immodestly and act seductively even in the most modest of dresses. We must never use dress to promote immodest conduct, and no degree of external modesty can cover-up an immodest, lustful spirit.
A sign posted in an Orthodox Jewish district of Jerusalem provides an interesting definition of modesty for women’s dress:” Passage permitted ‘only’ to women dressed modestly! Long dress, lower than knee length (no slacks). Long sleeves, beyond elbow length. Closed Neckline” (National Geographic, July 1985, p. 30).
XIII. THE GRACE OF GOD
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:11,12).
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:17).
A Christian, to keep saved, must walk with God and keep himself in the love of God (Jude 21) and in the grace of God. The word "grace" means "favor." When a person transgresses and sins against God, he loses his favor. If he continues to commit sin and does not repent, he will eventually be lost and cast into the lake of fire. (Read John 15:2, 6; 2 Peter 2:20-21). Jude speaks of the backsliders of his day, and their reward. (Also, read Hebrews 6:4-6).
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8).
XIV. RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS
We understand the scripture to teach the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. (Acts 3:21). But we cannot find where the devil, his angels, and all sinners are included. (See Rev. 20:10).
XV. Separation of Church and State
We believe that the scriptures teach that there is a Separation of Church and State. The Scriptures Separate Human Government from the Government of God and His Church. Jesus Christ himself is the Sovereign Head of the Church, and the Savior of the Body. God's Church will never be beholden to the Laws of the State. However, Where the Laws of the State do not conflict with the Laws of God, we are to Obey those Laws. We are to Render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar, and Render unto God that which belongs to God.
(Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 1:18,Matthew 22:21,Romans 13:1-7)
XVI. SECRET SOCIETIES, ETC.
According to the Word of God, we , firmly believe and hold that the people of God should have no connection whatsoever with secret societies or any other organization or body wherein there is a fellowship with unbelievers, bound by an oath. (James 5:12; 2 Cor. 6:14-18, John 18:19-21).
XVII. TRANSLATION OF SAINTS
We believe that the time is drawing near when our Lord shall appear; then the dead in Christ shall arise, and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up with them to meet our Lord in the air.
(1 Thess. 4:13-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; Phil. 3:20-21).
XVIII. MARRIAGE, DIVORCE, AND REMARRIAGE
The Holy Scriptures define marriage as one MAN and one WOMEN coming together in a sacred union as husband and wife, for the purpose of procreation. (Gen 2:24). ALL same sex marriages is an ABOMINATION before GOD and we DO NOT recognize such a union (Lev 20:13).
In regards to divorce, and remarriage, “Whosoever putteth away his wife and marrieth another, committeth adultery, and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery" Luke 16:18; Rom. 7:1-3, Mark 10:11-12, 1 Corinthians 7:39. Remarriage while the first spouse still lives is strictly prohibited. We hold that we have no right to add any thought of our own to such plain statements, in order to justify those who have taken their second companion while the first liveth.
XIX. SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
This Church is strongly against same-sex marriage and will not tolerate nor entertain any questions concerning performing or condoning same-sex marriage. Anyone who is involved in a same-sex relationship and/or who performs a same-sex wedding, or friendship, or life partnership or a ceremony of such unions shall be immediately excommunicated from membership in this Church. (Genesis 1:26-28, 2:24, Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Romans 1:26-28)
Same sex marriage is strictly prohibited and affirmation(s) and declaration(s) against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered, and homosexual lifestyle, AND EMPLOYEE, volunteer, and appointment restrictions to homosexual, bisexual, and trnsgendered person(s) and prohibited use of facilities to homosexual and transgendered individuals.
We declare and affirm that it is against our religious beliefs to neither conduct same sex marriage, nor celebrate, or perform same sex unions. We hereby declare and affirm that marriage is solely to be between a man and a woman for the purposes of producing godly offspring as declared in the infallible Word of God spoken through the Prophet Malachi in the book of Malachi 2:15-16 which declares, “.And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit that ye deal not treacherously.”
Furthermore we declare and affirm that the practice of the homosexual, bisexual, and transgendered lifestyle to be detestable before the Lord and those practicing such act(s) and behavior(s) will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. This is in accordance with God’s Holy Word as described in Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:27, and 1st Corinthians 6:9-10.
Leviticus 18:22 states, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
Leviticus 20:13 states, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
Romans 1:27 states, “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
1st Corinthians 6:9-10 states, “ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,” Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Furthermore, we declare and affirm that the use of any church owned facility may only be used for weddings that adhere to the traditional Biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman and are solely reserved for use by members, and their immediate family members of our same belief and not to same sex couples, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, or transgendered person(s). These facilities may not be used by any individual, group, or organization that advocate, endorse, or promote homosexuality, as an alternative or acceptable lifestyle. This policy also applies to birthday parties, reunions, anniversaries, wedding or baby showers, funerals, etc. Under no circumstances is the pastor, or any affiliate of this church, to officiate, participate, or endorse any wedding ceremony that violates the belief and teaching of this church body in accordance with the Bible.
The Lord has also decreed that no activity of our Church shall be dictated to, or governed by Local, State, or Federal authorities that shall supersede, or violate our Religious Freedom(s), Liberties, and Right(s) in accordance with our affirmation(s) and declaration(s) as outlined in this section, concerning Same Sex Marriage and Gender Identity.
XX. GENDER IDENTITY
The Holy Cross Church of Christ will not, at anytime, tolerate, nor entertain any questions concerning Gender Identity. We will not, at any time, accept, tolerate, recognize, nor condone any questions concerning Gender Identity. Any person found to be attempting to live, dress, change, or alter themselves in any manner not consistent with the Gender assigned them at birth, will be immediately excommunicated from this Church/Assembly. (Deuteronomy 22:5, 23:1)
XXI. Head Covering
Females are to have their head covered while praying or while in Worship Services. The Apostle Paul speaks about covering to be worn over the hair which gives or prefers honor on the man. Concerning Head Covering, I Cor. 11:3-7 states: “But I would have you to know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn; but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For man indeed ought not to cover his head forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”
XXI. TITHING
We DO NOT believe that Tithing is God’s Plan for the New Testament Church. We believe that the New Testament teaches that we are not limited to Tithing 10%, but are to give as the Lord has prospered us. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:10)
XXII. WOMEN WEARING PANTS
The wearing of pants by WOMEN is Strictly Prohibited. The scripture plainly teaches that it is an ABOMINATION for a woman to wear anything that PERTAINS to a man, and for a man to wear anything that PERTAINS to a woman. We believe that Pants do PERTAIN to men. (Duet.22:5) We further believe that “Breeches” mentioned in the Old Testament, were worn by AARON and HIS SONS, and are equivalent to the “Pants” of today. (Exodus 28:42-43)
XXIII. Women Preachers
There are many roles and duties to be fulfilled by the women in the church, but in accordance with the scripture we should not condone or recognize a woman as a minister of the Gospel. It is NOT scriptural for any female to be acknowledged or to be addressed with the title of Elder, Bishop, Apostle, Minister, Reverend and Evangelist. We believe and it is confirmed in the Holy Scriptures that God has never called a woman to preach the Gospel. Therefore, Supporting, Recognizing, Acknowledging, and Fellowshipping With Women Preachers Is Strictly Prohibited. It matters not who stands for it or justifies it. Let God be true and every man a liar. (Romans 3:4) Apostle Paul said, "I suffer not a woman to neither teach nor usurp authority over the man but to be in silence." (1 Timothy 2:12). (See also Numbers 27:16, 1 Timothy 2:11-12, 1 Corinthians 14:34-37, Acts 13:6-7,41)
XXIV. SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
That Jesus is coming again the second time in person, just as He went away, is clearly set forth by the Lord Jesus Himself, and was preached and taught in the early Christian church by the apostles; hence, the children of God today are earnestly, hopefully, looking forward to the glorious event. (Matt. 24; Acts 1:11, 3:19-21; 1 Cor.. 11:26; Phil. 3:20-21; 1 Thess.. 4:14-17; Titus 2:13, 14).
XXV. THE MILLENNIUM
Moreover, we believe that the distress upon the earth is the "beginning of sorrows" and will become more intense until there "shall be a time of trouble such as there never was since there was a nation even to that same time" (Matthew 24:3-8, Dan. 12:1), and that period of "tribulation" will be followed by the dawn of a better day on earth and that for a thousand years there shall be "peace on earth and good will toward men." (Rev. 20:1-5; Isa. 65:17-25; Matt.. 5:5; Dan. 7:27; Mic.. 4:1, 2; Heb. 2:14; Rom. 11:25-27).
XXVI. FINAL JUDGMENT
When the thousand years are finished, there shall be a resurrection of all the dead, who will be summoned before the great white throne for their final judgment, and all whose names are not found written in the Book of Life shall be cast into the lake of fire, burning with brimstone which God bath prepared for the Devil and his angels, Satan himself being cast in first. (Matt.. 25:41; Rev. 20:7, 15, 21:8).
Holy Doctrine of the Holy Cross Church of Christ
I. THE ONE TRUE GOD
We believe in the one ever-living, eternal God: infinite in power, Holy in nature, attributes and purpose; and possessing absolute, indivisible deity. This one true God has revealed Himself as Father, through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit, by emanation. (1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; 2 Cor. 5:19; Joel 2:28).
The Scripture does more than attempt to prove the existence of God; it asserts, assumes and declares that the knowledge of God is universal. (Romans 1:19, 21, 28, 32; 2:15). God is invisible, incorporeal, without parts, without body, and therefore free from all limitations. He is Spirit (John 4:24), and a spirit hath not flesh and bones. (Luke 24:39).
The first of all the commandments is, hear, 0 Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord" (Mark 12:29; Deut. 6:4). "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Eph. 4:6).
This one true God manifested Himself in the Old Testament in divers ways; in the Son while He walked among men; as the Holy Spirit after the ascension.
II. THE SON OF GOD
The one true God, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, took upon Himself the form of man, and as the Son of man, was born of the virgin Mary. As Paul says "and without controversy great is the mystery of Godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory" (1 Timothy 3:16).
"He came unto His own, and His own received Him not" (John 1:11). This one true God was manifest in the flesh, that is, in His Son Jesus Christ. ". . God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. . ." (2 Cor. 5:19).
We believe that, ". . in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily" (Col. 2:9). "For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell" (Col. 1:19). Therefore, Jesus in His humanity was man; in His deity was and is God. His flesh was the lamb, or the sacrifice of God. He is the only mediator between God and man. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).
Jesus on His Father's side was divine, on His mother's side, human; Thus, He was known as the Son of God and also the son of man, or the God-man.
"For He hath put all things under His feet. But when He saith all things are put under Him, it is manifest that He is excepted, which did put all things under Him" (1 Cor. 15:27). "And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all" (1 Cor. 15:28).
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty" (Rev. 1:8).
III. THE NAME
God used different titles, such as "God Elohim", "El Shaddai", "Jehovah", and especially "Jehovah Lord", the redemptive name in the Old Testament.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: ... and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). This prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled when the Son of God was named, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His People from their sins" (Matt. 1:21).
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
IV. CREATION OF MAN AND HIS FALL
In the beginning God created man innocent, pure and holy; but through the sin of disobedience, Adam and Eve, the first of the human race, fell from their holy state, and God banished them from Eden. Hence by one man's disobedience, sin entered into the world. (Gen. 1:27; Rom. 3:23, 5:12).
V. REPENTANCE AND CONVERSION
Pardon and forgiveness of sins is obtained by genuine repentance, a confessing and forsaking of sins. We are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). John the Baptist preached repentance, Jesus proclaimed it, and the Apostles emphasized it to both Jews and Gentiles. (Acts 2:38, 11:18, 17:30).
The word "repentance" comes from several Greek words which mean, change of views and purpose, change of heart, change of mind, change of life, to transform, etc.
Jesus said, -except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3).
Luke 24:47 says, "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
VI. WATER BAPTISM
The scriptural mode of baptism is immersion, and is only for those who have fully repented, having turned from their sins and a love of the world. It should be administered by a duly authorized minister of the Gospel, in obedience to the Word of God, and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to the Acts of the Apostles 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5; thus obeying and fulfilling Matthew 28:19.
VII. THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
John the Baptist, in Matthew 3:11, said, "...He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire."
Jesus, in Acts 1:5, said, "...ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."
Luke tells us in Acts 2:4, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues (languages), as the Spirit gave them utterance."
The terms "baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire," "filled with the Holy Spirit," and the "gift of the Holy Ghost" are synonymous terms used interchangeably in the Bible.
It is scriptural to expect all who receive the gift, filling, or baptism of the Holy Spirit to receive the same physical, initial sign of speaking with other tongues.
The speaking with other tongues, as recorded in Acts 2:4, 10:46, and 19:6, and the gift of tongues, as explained in 1 Corinthians, chapters 12 and 14, are the same in essence, but different in use and purpose.
The Lord, through the Prophet Joel, said, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; ..." (Joel 2:28).
Peter, in explaining this phenomenal experience, said, having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He (Jesus) hath shed forth this which ye now see and hear." (Acts 2:33).
Further, "...The promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:39).
VIII. FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINE
The basic and fundamental doctrine of this Church shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
IX. DIVINE HEALING
The first covenant that the Lord (Jehovah) made with the children of Israel after they were brought out of Egypt was a covenant of healing. The Lord said, ". . if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord (Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord that healeth) thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee." (Exodus 15:26).
Some translations read: "For I am Jehovah, thy physician," He being our physician or doctor, we have the most capable in the whole world. Our Lord Jesus Christ went about Galilee, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people. (Matthew 4:23, 24).
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).
The vicarious suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ paid for the healing of our bodies, the same as for the salvation of our souls, for with His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Matthew 8:17 reads, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (See also I Peter 2:24).
We see from this that divine healing for the body is in the atonement. That being true, then it is for all who believe. Jesus said of believers, ". . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Later, James wrote in his Epistle to all the churches: "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:14-16).
All of these promises are for the church today.
X. SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION (SINGLE CUP)
On the night of our Lord's betrayal, He ate the Passover supper with His Apostles, after which He instituted the sacrament. "And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:19-20).
Apostle Paul instructed the church how to observe it (I Cor. 11:23-34).
Thus was instituted the use of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, from a single cup, which are partaken of literally, as emblems of His broken body and shed blood. There is also a spiritual significance and blessing in partaking of the sacrament. (See also Matthew 26:26-27, Mark 14:22-23)
XI. FOOT WASHING
When the Passover supper was ended, we read in John 13:4-5, "He riseth from supper, and laid aside His garments; and took a towel, and girded Himself. After that He poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith He was girded."
Jesus said, "If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you" (John 13:14-15).
This first example was given by our Lord, and it is a divine institution. It is well to follow His example and wash one another's feet; thus manifesting the spirit of humility.
XII. HOLINESS
After we are saved from sin, we are commanded, "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11).
We are commanded to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world (Titus 2:12) and warned that without holiness no one shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
We must present ourselves as holy unto God (Romans 12:1), cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit (II Corinthians 7:1), and separate ourselves from all worldliness (James 4:4).
If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (I Peter 4:18). What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.( 1Cor 6:19 )
No one can live a holy life by his own power, but only through the Holy Spirit. "Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you" (Acts 1:8).
Holiness involves both the inner man and the outer man (I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Thessalonians 5:23). We must perfect holiness by cleansing ourselves of filthiness both of the flesh and of the spirit (II Corinthians 7:1). For example, lustful thoughts are as sinful as an act of adultery (Matthew 5:27-28), and hatred is just as sinful as murder (I John 3:15). Holiness, then, includes attitudes, thoughts, and spiritual stewardship on the one hand and actions, appearance, and physical stewardship on the other. One without the other is insufficient. Inward holiness will produce outward holiness, but the outward appearance of holiness is worthless without inward holiness. For example, a modest spirit will produce modest dress, but modest dress is of little value if it conceals a lustful heart.
Holiness or sanctification is not a means of earning salvation but a result of salvation. As such, it comes by grace through faith. Holiness cannot be manufactured bywords of the flesh but must come as we submit to the leadership and control of the Holy Spirit. We are holy in a twofold sense. On the one hand, we receive an immediate sanctification (separation from sin) through the death of Christ when we are baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 6:11; Hebrews10:10). God counts us holy by imputing Christ’s righteousness to us. On the other hand, we must follow after and seek holiness (Hebrews 12:14). We must strive after holiness and receive the progressive work of sanctification. We are already sanctified, but we are also called to be saints (sanctified, holy ones) (I Corinthians 1:2).
Many times what we wear helps to mold their expectations as well as our own. When a woman wears an immodest dress, she begins to think of herself as seductive and acts accordingly. Other people perceive her as provocative and treat her as such, which reinforces her behavior. In short, appearance both reflects and to large degree determines what we are in the eyes of self and others.
We must ask what practices of the time concerned God enough for Him to inspire this passage. What clothing did Paul have in mind when he warned against immodesty of dress? In a day when women wore robes to the ankle, what type of immodest dress existed? If Paul found immodest clothing in an age characterized by greater modesty of dress than our own, certainly he would consider many styles of clothing today to be immodest. As Chapter 8 will note, many women of the time tucked in their tunics above the knee for convenience in certain activities, and the early church fathers considered this immodest. God was concerned about modesty of dress in a day when even exposing the upper leg was considered immodest. In Isaiah47:2-3 God considered baring the leg and uncovering the thigh to be shameful exposure of nakedness. This gives us a good idea as to what God would regard as the minimum standard of modesty, regardless of culture.
The basic reason for modesty of dress is to subdue the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. The exposed body tends to arouse improper thoughts in both wearer and onlooker. To implement the purpose behind modest dress, the body should basically be covered, except for those parts which we must use openly for normal living. This suggests that clothes should cover the torso and upper limbs. Reasonable guidelines, then, would-be women’s dresses over the knee and sleeves to the elbow. In addition, we should avoid low necklines, sleeveless dresses or shirts, very tight clothes, very thin clothes, and slacks on women because they immodestly reveal the feminine contours of upper leg, thigh, and hip. Likewise, swimming in mixed company is immodest. Since the primary effect of makeup is to highlight sex appeal, we reject makeup as immodest.
To some degree modesty is culturally relative. We must certainly dress in a manner that would be considered modest for the occasion and in the judgment of our culture. For example, 19th century society considered it improper for a woman to expose any of her leg in public. Applying principles of Christian liberty, a Christian woman of that day should not have worn a knee-length dress, for this would have brought reproach upon her and the Lord. However, there must be a minimum of modesty that is absolute. Otherwise, if society condoned total nudity, Christians could walk around nude. If so, we could delete I Timothy 2:9 from the Bible as irrelevant.
Finally, the heart must be modest and motives pure. Conduct, gestures, gait, body language, and speech must be modest. If a woman wants to, she can display her body immodestly and act seductively even in the most modest of dresses. We must never use dress to promote immodest conduct, and no degree of external modesty can cover-up an immodest, lustful spirit.
A sign posted in an Orthodox Jewish district of Jerusalem provides an interesting definition of modesty for women’s dress:” Passage permitted ‘only’ to women dressed modestly! Long dress, lower than knee length (no slacks). Long sleeves, beyond elbow length. Closed Neckline” (National Geographic, July 1985, p. 30).
XIII. THE GRACE OF GOD
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:11,12).
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:17).
A Christian, to keep saved, must walk with God and keep himself in the love of God (Jude 21) and in the grace of God. The word "grace" means "favor." When a person transgresses and sins against God, he loses his favor. If he continues to commit sin and does not repent, he will eventually be lost and cast into the lake of fire. (Read John 15:2, 6; 2 Peter 2:20-21). Jude speaks of the backsliders of his day, and their reward. (Also, read Hebrews 6:4-6).
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8).
XIV. RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS
We understand the scripture to teach the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. (Acts 3:21). But we cannot find where the devil, his angels, and all sinners are included. (See Rev. 20:10).
XV. Separation of Church and State
We believe that the scriptures teach that there is a Separation of Church and State. The Scriptures Separate Human Government from the Government of God and His Church. Jesus Christ himself is the Sovereign Head of the Church, and the Savior of the Body. God's Church will never be beholden to the Laws of the State. However, Where the Laws of the State do not conflict with the Laws of God, we are to Obey those Laws. We are to Render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar, and Render unto God that which belongs to God.
(Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 1:18,Matthew 22:21,Romans 13:1-7)
XVI. SECRET SOCIETIES, ETC.
According to the Word of God, we , firmly believe and hold that the people of God should have no connection whatsoever with secret societies or any other organization or body wherein there is a fellowship with unbelievers, bound by an oath. (James 5:12; 2 Cor. 6:14-18, John 18:19-21).
XVII. TRANSLATION OF SAINTS
We believe that the time is drawing near when our Lord shall appear; then the dead in Christ shall arise, and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up with them to meet our Lord in the air.
(1 Thess. 4:13-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; Phil. 3:20-21).
XVIII. MARRIAGE, DIVORCE, AND REMARRIAGE
The Holy Scriptures define marriage as one MAN and one WOMEN coming together in a sacred union as husband and wife, for the purpose of procreation. (Gen 2:24). ALL same sex marriages is an ABOMINATION before GOD and we DO NOT recognize such a union (Lev 20:13).
In regards to divorce, and remarriage, “Whosoever putteth away his wife and marrieth another, committeth adultery, and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery" Luke 16:18; Rom. 7:1-3, Mark 10:11-12, 1 Corinthians 7:39. Remarriage while the first spouse still lives is strictly prohibited. We hold that we have no right to add any thought of our own to such plain statements, in order to justify those who have taken their second companion while the first liveth.
XIX. SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
This Church is strongly against same-sex marriage and will not tolerate nor entertain any questions concerning performing or condoning same-sex marriage. Anyone who is involved in a same-sex relationship and/or who performs a same-sex wedding, or friendship, or life partnership or a ceremony of such unions shall be immediately excommunicated from membership in this Church. (Genesis 1:26-28, 2:24, Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Romans 1:26-28)
Same sex marriage is strictly prohibited and affirmation(s) and declaration(s) against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered, and homosexual lifestyle, AND EMPLOYEE, volunteer, and appointment restrictions to homosexual, bisexual, and trnsgendered person(s) and prohibited use of facilities to homosexual and transgendered individuals.
We declare and affirm that it is against our religious beliefs to neither conduct same sex marriage, nor celebrate, or perform same sex unions. We hereby declare and affirm that marriage is solely to be between a man and a woman for the purposes of producing godly offspring as declared in the infallible Word of God spoken through the Prophet Malachi in the book of Malachi 2:15-16 which declares, “.And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit that ye deal not treacherously.”
Furthermore we declare and affirm that the practice of the homosexual, bisexual, and transgendered lifestyle to be detestable before the Lord and those practicing such act(s) and behavior(s) will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. This is in accordance with God’s Holy Word as described in Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:27, and 1st Corinthians 6:9-10.
Leviticus 18:22 states, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
Leviticus 20:13 states, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
Romans 1:27 states, “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
1st Corinthians 6:9-10 states, “ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,” Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Furthermore, we declare and affirm that the use of any church owned facility may only be used for weddings that adhere to the traditional Biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman and are solely reserved for use by members, and their immediate family members of our same belief and not to same sex couples, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, or transgendered person(s). These facilities may not be used by any individual, group, or organization that advocate, endorse, or promote homosexuality, as an alternative or acceptable lifestyle. This policy also applies to birthday parties, reunions, anniversaries, wedding or baby showers, funerals, etc. Under no circumstances is the pastor, or any affiliate of this church, to officiate, participate, or endorse any wedding ceremony that violates the belief and teaching of this church body in accordance with the Bible.
The Lord has also decreed that no activity of our Church shall be dictated to, or governed by Local, State, or Federal authorities that shall supersede, or violate our Religious Freedom(s), Liberties, and Right(s) in accordance with our affirmation(s) and declaration(s) as outlined in this section, concerning Same Sex Marriage and Gender Identity.
XX. GENDER IDENTITY
The Holy Cross Church of Christ will not, at anytime, tolerate, nor entertain any questions concerning Gender Identity. We will not, at any time, accept, tolerate, recognize, nor condone any questions concerning Gender Identity. Any person found to be attempting to live, dress, change, or alter themselves in any manner not consistent with the Gender assigned them at birth, will be immediately excommunicated from this Church/Assembly. (Deuteronomy 22:5, 23:1)
XXI. Head Covering
Females are to have their head covered while praying or while in Worship Services. The Apostle Paul speaks about covering to be worn over the hair which gives or prefers honor on the man. Concerning Head Covering, I Cor. 11:3-7 states: “But I would have you to know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn; but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For man indeed ought not to cover his head forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”
XXI. TITHING
We DO NOT believe that Tithing is God’s Plan for the New Testament Church. We believe that the New Testament teaches that we are not limited to Tithing 10%, but are to give as the Lord has prospered us. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:10)
XXII. WOMEN WEARING PANTS
The wearing of pants by WOMEN is Strictly Prohibited. The scripture plainly teaches that it is an ABOMINATION for a woman to wear anything that PERTAINS to a man, and for a man to wear anything that PERTAINS to a woman. We believe that Pants do PERTAIN to men. (Duet.22:5) We further believe that “Breeches” mentioned in the Old Testament, were worn by AARON and HIS SONS, and are equivalent to the “Pants” of today. (Exodus 28:42-43)
XXIII. Women Preachers
There are many roles and duties to be fulfilled by the women in the church, but in accordance with the scripture we should not condone or recognize a woman as a minister of the Gospel. It is NOT scriptural for any female to be acknowledged or to be addressed with the title of Elder, Bishop, Apostle, Minister, Reverend and Evangelist. We believe and it is confirmed in the Holy Scriptures that God has never called a woman to preach the Gospel. Therefore, Supporting, Recognizing, Acknowledging, and Fellowshipping With Women Preachers Is Strictly Prohibited. It matters not who stands for it or justifies it. Let God be true and every man a liar. (Romans 3:4) Apostle Paul said, "I suffer not a woman to neither teach nor usurp authority over the man but to be in silence." (1 Timothy 2:12). (See also Numbers 27:16, 1 Timothy 2:11-12, 1 Corinthians 14:34-37, Acts 13:6-7,41)
XXIV. SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
That Jesus is coming again the second time in person, just as He went away, is clearly set forth by the Lord Jesus Himself, and was preached and taught in the early Christian church by the apostles; hence, the children of God today are earnestly, hopefully, looking forward to the glorious event. (Matt. 24; Acts 1:11, 3:19-21; 1 Cor.. 11:26; Phil. 3:20-21; 1 Thess.. 4:14-17; Titus 2:13, 14).
XXV. THE MILLENNIUM
Moreover, we believe that the distress upon the earth is the "beginning of sorrows" and will become more intense until there "shall be a time of trouble such as there never was since there was a nation even to that same time" (Matthew 24:3-8, Dan. 12:1), and that period of "tribulation" will be followed by the dawn of a better day on earth and that for a thousand years there shall be "peace on earth and good will toward men." XXVI. FINAL JUDGMENT
When the thousand years are finished, there shall be a resurrection of all the dead, who will be summoned before the great white throne for their final judgment, and all whose names are not found written in the Book of Life shall be cast into the lake of fire, burning with brimstone which God bath prepared for the Devil and his angels, Satan himself being cast in first. (Matt.. 25:41; Rev. 20:7, 15, 21:8).
