The Holy Cross Church of Christ was founded in November of 1963, By Bishop Joseph Floyd, In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the USA, and our present Location, at 1822 Orthodox Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19124, was purchased and renovated.
Bishop Floyd comes from a lineage of Great Pioneers of the Apostolic Faith. Bishop Floyd Repented of his sins, was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of his sins, and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost, with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance, under the ministry of Bishop H.D. Jones, of the Greater Refuge Church of Christ, 32nd and Montgomery Streets, in Philadelphia, PA. He was Called by God to Preach the Gospel, and given his Exhorter's Papers By Bishop H.D. Jones, Bishop R.C. Lawson, and Bishop William L. Bonner, on August 20, 1960.
On August 25, 1962, Bishop Floyd received his minister's license from Bishop H. D. Jones,
Bishop William L. Bonner, Bishop Maurice Hunter, Bishop H. J. Spencer, and Bishop John W. Pernell.
In 1972, Bishop Floyd was led by God to leave the Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC), and assist his longtime friend and collegue, Bishop Lymus Johnson, in establishing The Evangelistic Churches of Christ of the Apostolic Faith.
On October 12, 1975, Bishop Joseph Floyd was ordained as a Bishop,by Bishop Lymus Johnson, and The Evangelistic Churches of Christ of the Apostolic faith, Inc.
The Holy Cross Church of Christ received it's Charter under Apostle Lymus Johnson, and The Evangelistic Churches of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., On July 17, 1977, during the 1977 Holy Convocation.
Bishop Floyd continued to Preach Steadfastly ,The Apostles Doctrine, and many souls were saved, baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, For the Remission of Sins, and Many Received the Gift of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance, according to Acts 2:38.
Bishop Floyd met his wife to be, in late 1954, and after a long courtship, Bishop Joseph Floyd married Ida V. Floyd on May 26, 1956.
Mother Floyd worked faithfully by her husband's side, as he founded the Holy Cross Church of Christ.
This union was blessed by four children, Janice (who preceded them in death), Diane, Hannah, and Jonathan.
Bishop Floyd served as the State Overseer, and Mother Floyd, as the State Mother, of the Pennsylvania Diocese of the Evangelistic Churches of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.
After serving faithfully for 45 years, Bishop Floyd was called from Labor to reward in 2003. Mother Floyd continued to serve faithfully until she was called home from Labor to Reward on October 6, 2015.
After the death of our Founder, Bishop Joseph Floyd, Holy Cross Church of Christ, left the covering of the Evangelistic Churches of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, and became an Independent Holiness Church, that continues to preach steadfastly the Apostles Doctrine.
